SIT Releases Lookout Circular for Prajwal Revanna

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) delving into allegations of sexual abuse involving JD(S)  MP Prajwal Revanna has intensified its efforts, issuing a lookout circular against him after he fails to appear before officials. Prajwal, the grandson of former Prime Minister H D Gowda, requested a seven-day extension to appear before the SIT, which was declined. Notices were also issued to Prajwal and his father, HD Revanna, both named as accused in the complaint filed by one of the women involved.

A police officer from the SIT confirmed the issuance of a lookout circular at all immigration points to prevent Prajwal’s entry into the country, as he is believed to be in Germany. This step is part of the standard procedure to ensure his detention upon arrival. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah initiated the SIT formation following a letter from the State Commission for Women, prompted by the circulation of explicit videos allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna.

The case was registered by the Holenarasipura town police after pen drives containing numerous files went viral in the Hassan Lok Sabha constituency. A 47-year-old woman came forward, alleging sexual abuse by Prajwal and his father, Holenarasipura MLA HD Revanna. The charges against them include sections 354 (a) (sexual harassment), 354 (d) (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (intending to insult the modesty of any woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In response to the accusations, Prajwal, who is currently not in Bangalore, communicated through his advocate to the CID Bangalore, expressing confidence in the truth coming to light. Siddaramaiah, on the other hand, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the cancellation of Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport and ensuring his return through diplomatic and police channels.

H D Revanna dismissed the allegations as a conspiracy, stating, “I know what kind of conspiracy is going on.” Meanwhile, the Janata Dal (Secular) suspended Prajwal from the party until the SIT submitted its report. The unfolding of events in this case has sparked public outcry and raised questions about the involvement of political figures in criminal activities, prompting a thorough investigation by authorities.
