Gatka training centres to be set up in all districts of Punjab

The International Sikh Martial Arts Council (ISMAC) will setup free Gatka training Centres (GTC) in every district of Punjab to save the youth from falling prey to drugs and other bad habits. In this regard, education related to Gurmukhi, Gurbani, Gurmat besides health and hygiene would also be imparted to the children thereby connecting them to their cultural roots.

Sharing this information, the chairperson of the ISMAC Harjeet Singh Grewal State Awardee said these training centres would be run in collaboration with Global Middas Foundation. He said the Sikh boys and girls who are well versed in Gatka and Gurbani could submit their applications upto June 15 and preference would be given to those who know Gurbani Katha, Kirtan/Tabla besides higher education.

Grewal informed that the selected youth would be interviewed by a five-member Gursikh panel of the council. He further informed that selected trainers would be paid monthly salary and be deployed in 23 different GTCs in Punjab to impart training in the morning and evening shifts.

Grewal, who is also National President of the National Gatka Association of India, disclosed that online lectures would also be imparted to the trainees every week in the GTCs with regard to Gurmat, sports, health and character building.

He said that the aspiring Gursikhs between the age of 25 to 40 years should download the application form from the website www.Gatkaa.com and send the filled form with all details to ISMACouncil@gmail.com by June 15. In addition, Grewal added that all equipment and traditional clothing (Bana) for Gatkai Singhs would also be provided to every training centre free of cost.
