Fuel at your doorstep scheme implemented in Punjab

In a bid to save fuel in the country and prevent accidents due to stored fuel, the Central Government has launched the ‘Fuel at your doorstep scheme’. Chamunda Autofill of Pathankot has become the first petrol pump in Punjab to implement the ‘Fuel at your doorstep scheme’. Under this, people can now order diesel from their mobile phones at their home/office.

In May, Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan had announced that the government was mulling home delivery of fuels. The development came after it was reported that the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) tied up with two start-ups for the home-delivery of diesel.

A special ‘Mobile Buzzer Dispenser’ vehicle (Mini Tanker) has been designed to deliver diesel to the customer. It has a capacity of 6,000 litres and has a diesel-pouring machine.

Dinesh Gupta, owner of Chamunda Autofill, said the ‘Fuel at your doorstep scheme’ has been certified by the Legal Metrology Department of Punjab government and the tanker is licensed by the Petroleum Explosive Safety Organisation.

He said that Indian Oil’s said ‘mobile boozer dispenser’ can supply diesel anywhere in Punjab. “There is a provision to charge according to the quantity. As of now, no additional fees has been charged from anyone.” He informed that every Wednesday, diesel will be supplied from Dhariwal to Gurdaspur and Pathankot. He is currently taking orders on petrol pump number 9646661600. In the coming days, Indian Oil will release the app and toll free number.
