E-Shram portal launched

The Ministry of Labour & Employment, New Delhi, has launched e-Shram portal (www.eshram.gov.in) for creating a comprehensive National Database of Unorganised Workers (NDUW). The data base will be seeded with Aadhaar and it will consists of name, occupation, address, educational qualification, skill types, family details etc. for optimum realization of their employability and to extend the benefits of the social security schemes to them.

Under this scheme, an unorganized worker(s) means a home-based worker, self-employed worker, or a wage worker in the unorganized sector who is not a member of ESIC/EPFO/Government Employee and aged between 16-59. Any such worker is eligible to register on the e-Shram portal. The unorganized worker(s) can register themselves free of cost on e-Shram portal or by visiting nearest Common Service Centres (CSCs) for enrolling and availing the benefits of the social security and welfare schemes to be formulated by the Government of India in future. With their registration on e-Shram portal, the worker(s) shall also get the benefit of Rs. 2 lacs insurance on accidental death, full disability and Rs. 1 lacs for partial disability for the next one (01) year.

The Labour Department, UT, Chandigarh has also initiated the  awareness camps to mobilize the unorganized workers to get themselves register on the e-Shram portal from September 6 to 11 (Saturday) in different locations in UT, Chandigarh i.e. Community Centre, Mauli Jagran, Community Centre, Bapu Dham, Community Centre, Maloya, Street Vending Zone, Sector 15, Chandigarh and City Livelihood Centre, Sector 25, Chandigarh. An appeal is made to all the unorganized workers to get themselves registered on the e-Shram Portal.
