Chandigarh administration allows relaxations in curfew restrictions

Chandigarh administration on Monday provided certain relaxations in the Corona Curfew restrictions. In a war room meeting presided by UT administrator VP Singh Badnore, it was decided to continue the existing restrictions until 6am on June 9, 2021 with following modifications:-

(a)  All shops will be allowed to open from 9 am to 4pm.

(b) All sports facilities will be opened for sports persons, who can utilise the infrastructure by strictly following Covid protocol. However, swimming pools and gyms will remain closed.

(c) Barber shops/salons will be allowed to open only for haircuts.

(d) Spa, Massage Centres, where physical contact is involved will, continue to be closed.

Dr Jagat Ram, Director PGIMER, stated that they have 232 Covid cases in PGIMER, out of which 37 belong to Chandigarh, 112 to Punjab, 39 to Haryana, 28 to Himachal Pradesh & 16 from other states. He mentioned that they have 135 patients suffering from Mucormycosis (Black fungus) and 90% of the health staff in PGIMER has been vaccinated. 

The Chandigarh Administrator directed them to expedite setting up of oxygen plant (PSA) and also to start conducting Sero-Survey.

He also directed that the hospital in Sector 45 should be converted into an exclusive Paediatric Hospital for children, who are suffering from Covid.

Chandigarh Administrator directed Vinod P Kavle, Secretary Food & Supply, to ensure that the ration being distributed under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMJKAY) Scheme reaches the beneficiaries.
