As the number of Covid cases is decreasing in Chandigarh, the health department has changed its strategy for testing. Now, the emphasis will be laid on going to an area and investigate suspected patients. For this purpose, mobile covid 19 testing vans will start roaming in the city from Monday.
The first mobile testing van will be in UPHC of Dhanas Colony, the second van will be in HWC of Dhanas, third in Citco Dispensary at Industrial Area, fourth at Rehri Market, Sector-29, and the fifth van at Police Hospital, Sector-26.
Anyone can go to these places and get themselves tested for the virus. People who test positive will be isolated according to their symptoms.
The health department has found that 80% of the patients do not have any symptoms and pose a threat to others. The sooner such people are traced, the sooner the infection will be controlled. Director of Chandigarh Health Department, Dr Amandeep Kang informed that till now, the teams used to focus on containment zones. From now on, the mobile covid 19 testing vans teams will go to an area and test a person on the spot.
