Chandigarh government schools from class 6 to 8 to open from February 1

Chandigarh Administration has issued instructions to open government schools for classes from 6 to 8 from February 1. Schools in the city from grade 9 to 12 have already opened since November 2.

However, private schools say that they will first ask parents if they want to send their children to school. Education Director Rubinderjit Singh Brar said that next week, guidelines will be issued to open the schools after meeting with the District Education Officer, school heads and parents. Students coming to school must submit their parents’ permission in writing.

The Chandigarh administration, in its order, has not made any mention of opening of private schools. However, the principals of the city’s private schools say they do not want to hurry, so schools will first conduct a survey among parents to see if they are ready to send their children to school. The decision to open the school will be taken only if the parents agree.  According to the information, classes from 9 to 12 are being called in government schools in two shifts since November 2. In this, students of Class 10 and 12 come to school in the morning and students of 9 and 11 in the afternoon session.
