TOPPER

A student of Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh, she aspires to go to the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. In 2018, she had also secured the second rank in the tricity in CBSE class 10 board exams. Read on to know more about this all India topper:

1. When did you decide to opt for this subject and why?

There are a number of legal, socio-political issues plaguing the society. Law empowers the ordinary citizen to fight for their right to a better life and guard their fundamental rights. This is why I decided to pursue law.

2. Around 10 years down the line, how would you like your future to be?

Most probably as a judge.

3. What are your hobbies?

I like to read books, listen to music and watch movies. I love comedy movies of Kevin Hart and Melissa McCarthy. So, these were my stress busters.

4. Did your hobby help you while you were preparing for the exams? How?

It did. Whenever I felt demotivated, I would watch a movie or listen to Green Day and feel better.

5. If you could choose any profession and be anything that you want, what would you be? (Do not hesitate to speak out your mind on this one)

I would actually love to be an agent like James Bond. I am thrilled by RAW and CIA and would have liked to be a spy or a detective.

6. If you could have the power of any superhero for a day, what will it be?

Invisibility, anyday. I would like to observe people and not be in the limelight.

7. Would you like to see any changes/reforms in the existing laws?

Yes, first of all, a complete overhaul of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), it’s quite old. A review of Code of Civil Procedure (CPC), and inclusion of specific crimes like marital rape. Moreover, I would like the rape and sexual abuse laws to be gender neutral. These reforms are in tune with the changing social scenario, hence urgently needed.
