Delhi BJP leader Tajinder Singh Bagga got relief from the Punjab and Haryana High Court at a latenight hearing on Saturday. The court ordered that no coercive action should be taken against the BJYM leader till the next hearing on May 10. Senior Advocate Chetan Mittal, who represents BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga before Punjab and Haryana High Court, said that the court has granted him protection from coercive action till the next date of hearing in the petition seeking quashing of the FIR against him. Bagga had approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the non-bailable arrest warrant issued against him by Mohali court.
Earlier, the Punjab and Haryana High Court adjourned proceedings in the matter of the alleged detention of Punjab Police officials by the Haryana Police till Tuesday. The states of Punjab and Delhi have filed reports of the incident, claiming that they had not detained any police officials. The Delhi Police on Friday registered a case of kidnapping after BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga was arrested by Punjab Police personnel, officials told PTI. They claimed that the Punjab Police team did not inform the local police before arresting Tajinder Bagga from his residence in Delhi’s Janakpuri. Tajinder Bagga, who is also the national secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, was held in connection with a case registered against him in Mohali last month, the Punjab Police said.Hours after being arrested by the Punjab Police, BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga had returned to Delhi on Friday evening. After Delhi Police took Bagga’s custody, Punjab cops approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court against the “detention” of its police team in Kurukshetra. Terming the intervention by Haryana Police ‘a violation of law’, Advocate General (AG) Anmol Rattan Sidhu claimed that everything was going as per procedure but the Haryana cops delayed the process. The Punjab government also requested the court to not let the Delhi Police cross the Haryana border with Bagga.
