Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday laid the foundation stone for initiation of development works worth Rs. 16 crore related to Dual Carriage Railway under Bridge in Urban Estate, Phase-1, and adjoining roads besides announcing Rs. 2 crore for the construction of Sant Prem Singh Lubana Welfare Society Bhawan.
Out of this, the cheque worth Rs. 51 lakh was handed over to the society on the spot itself.Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister lauded the role played by the Lubana community in bringing social awakening and economic prosperity of the country especially Punjab and announced that the 600 square foot land adjoining the Bhawan site would also be given to the society.
Further, CM Channi also announced Rs. 10 lakh for the Sri Guru Ravidass Bhawan in Urban Estate.
HANDS OVER CHEQUES OVER RS.1 CRORE AT SATGURU RAVIDASS DHAM BOOTA MANDI CM
Channi also paid obeisance at Satguru Ravidass Dham in Boota Mandi and handed over cheques to the tune of Rs. 51 lakh each for Shiromani Guru Ravidass Mandir Prabandhak Committee Punjab, Phagwara and Guru Ravidass Educational and Charitable Trust, Jalandhar. “I also follow the teachings of Guru Ravidass Ji and it is my sincere endeavour to ensure the welfare of common man especially the poor and needy of the society in line with the ideology of Guru Ravidass Ji”, said Channi adding the study Centres of Srimadbhagvad Gita and Ramayan would be started soon at Patiala.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister was honoured with the Gold Medal by Satguru Ravidass Dham authorities.As many as 12 leaders from Shiromani Akali Dal and BSP joined the Congress party in the presence of CM Channi.Among others present on the occasion included the MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh, Forest Minister Sangat Singh Giljian, Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Minister Dr. Raj Kumar Verka, Sports and Education Minister Pargat Singh, MLA Hardev Singh Laadi Sherowalia besides Principal Secretary to CM Hussan Lal, Special Principal Secretary to CM Ravi Bhagat, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, Commissioner Naunihal Singh, and Chairman Punjab State Board of Technical Education and Industrial Training Mohinder Singh Kaypee.
