A Louis Vuitton bag that is shaped like a plane has become the subject of ridicule on social media. As part of its Autumn-Winter 2021 collection, it launched a bag designed by American designer Virgil Abloh in the shape of an airplane for the modest amount of 39 thousand dollars, that is around ₹28.6 lakh.
The brown bag features the brand’s signature monogram pattern and has wings, engines, a tail and a nose so as to resemble an aircraft. As GQ explained, the collection is meant to explore male archetypes and redefining the “male” uniform with his own take on suits, military jackets, and even cowboy hats. Beyond the airplane, the collection also includes lime green moto suits, purple silk pajamas, and even a reusable Louis Vuitton coffee cup.
Although it went on sale in January, it was now that it garnered attention. The expensive bag was posted on Twitter by the Saint page, according to Fox News. The image shows the four engines and two wings that make a great similarity to an average commercial airplane.
Social media users found it bizarre for the brand to quote such a whopping price for a handbag and also posted hilarious comments.
“You can buy a real plane for much less,” wrote one user. He accompanied the post with a picture of a 1968 Cessna 150 single-engine plane priced at $ 32,300 (actually costing less than the Louis Vuitton wallet).
Abloh has been the artistic director of Louis Vuitton menswear since 2018 and is also the chief executive officer of his own fashion house, Off-White.

It is not the first time one of Abloh’s designs has caught people’s attention.
Earlier this month, the designer posted a short clip on his Instagram of a Louis Vuitton bag in the shape of a carrot that has been viewed over 1.4 million times.
