Punjab education minister Vijay Inder Singla on Wednesday said that following the persistent demand of parents, the state government has decided to reopen all government, semi-government and private schools from January 7 onwards. He said that the timings of the schools will be from 10am to 3pm and students only from class 5 to 12 will be allowed to attend physical classes in the schools.
Chief minister (CM) Captain Amarinder Singh has directed to ensure the safety of the children amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Singla said that following the directions of the CM, all school managements have been asked to strictly comply with the directions of the government.
The cabinet minister informed that the education department had taken feedback from the school heads and besides ensuring safety of the children, they have also suggested the department to reopen the schools before the annual exams for final revision of the students.
In an endeavour to ensure continued learning, the CM had also launched ‘Mission Shat Pratishat’ during the event of Smart Phone distribution to the students of class 12 on November 07, last year. “After announcement, the whole education department, especially the school teachers, have been geared up to turn the vision of the CM into reality by putting in dedicated efforts at the cutting edge level,” Singla said. The Education minister has also appreciated the work done by teachers and being the ‘real Corona warriors’ as they worked to provide quality education facilities to the students.
