Along with Covid epidemic, we also need to protect ourselves from the risk of dengue. In Chandigarh, 54 dengue patients have been exposed to the disease in just 24 days of October.
The Health Department has started preparations for prevention of dengue. Along with campaigning to spread awareness, action is being taken against those who ignore the standards. Under the campaign, more than 150 people have been served notices in the city, including shopkeepers, hoteliers and people from residential areas.
So far, around four patients have come to Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, who are Covid positive and also suffering from dengue. In such a situation, doctors are facing a challenge in treating them. Another problem that is being faced is that people are not able to differentiate the symptoms between the two. In such a situation, it is important to seek the advice of the doctor.
Also, the demand for platelets in the city’s blood banks has increased rapidly due to the increasing number of dengue patients. Members of blood donation organisations said that 50 to 80 donors are needed in one day.
