Today, shooting of actor Shahid Kapoor’s starrer Hindi film ‘Jersey’ has begun in sector 22. Shahid is playing a cricketer in Jersey, the Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster of the same name. The Telugu flick revolves around the life of a cricketer showcasing the struggles and failures that he faces while trying to make it to the Indian cricket team and fulfill his son’s wish of an Indian jersey as a gift. The film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanauri who helmed the original as well. The sports flick would also see Shahid’s father and actor Pankaj Kapur and actress Mrunal Thakur.
An open patch in sector 22 Chandigarh has been booked by the film production unit for three months for the shoot. Vinod Vashisht, President of the Government Houses Residents Welfare Society Sector 22 and Convener of City Forum of Residents Welfare Organisations Chandigarh said, “It is matter of pride for the residents of sector 22, in particular and all Chandigarhians, in general that City Beautiful has been chosen as a location for a Bollywood movie after so many years.”
“A temporary set has been built including a house to be used as a home of Shahid as cricketer in the movie. A block of heritage government houses which were first to be built when the Chandigarh came into existence surround this site. The set-house has been christened as H. No. 3383 in the movie” shared Vashisht.
Yesterday, the actor took to Instagram to share the news of kick starting of the shoot with his fans, along with a picture that carries the clapperboard “It’s never too late to chase your dream. #Jersey… The journey begins”. The film will hit the theatres on August, 2020.
