Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday addressed the Rajya Sabha while taking part in a discussion on the President’s address.
While addressing the house, Modi said that all politicians should focus on ways to take country in next 25 year with greater speed.
Some Members asked- if there was no Congress, what would happen…I would like to say, if there was no Congress there would be no Emergency, there would be no caste politics, Sikhs would never have been massacred, the problems of Kashmiri Pandits would not have happened

“Export of turmeric increased because world has recognised India’s traditional medicine. We focused on holistic health care system,” said Modi. He further said: “Some among us need to introspect. It was good that people didn’t not heed to anti-vaccination jibes by leaders. So long as corona is there we will continue our efforts at whatever cost. Since corona struck, we arranged everything from everwhere.”
Modi also urged LoP Kharge to be positive about development. ” You are a respected leader. If leaders start thinking negatively, what will happen to their area of command. Please don’t shift your personal defeat and its related negativity to the nation,” he added
“In India we made efforts to contain information. We are the only large economy where high growth and medium inflation exist. In America facing highest inflation in 100 years, Britain maximum in 30 years. More than 27 lakh jobs created in IT sector after 2017. Defence corridors are being developed in UP and Tamil Nadu. We aim to make India atmnirbhar in defence requirement.”
Taking about DBT, PM mentions about Punjab farmers and says money against MSP was sent through direct transfer and he has seen videos of farmers in Punjab expressing their happiness. He recitied a couplet by former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee, “When in difficult situation and no country helps others, it is really challenging to face the situation.”
“India is third in the world with respect to startup.”
He appreciated farmers for record farm production during corona period and noted that record procurement made under MSP. Taking about PM Aawas Yojana, Modi sayid those who had houses under the scheme have now become lakhpati. “Reason for successful vaccination is because of people’s thought that he/she should not be reason for others’ misery. We are heading towards 100 per cent vaccination. A few leaders of some political parties have shown immaturity in the last 2 years which has disappointed the nation. We have seen how games have been played due to political selfishness. Campaigns were done against Indian vaccines.”
He asked everyone to take credit for it, as it is an achievement of India collectively. “Now India is being appreciated by the world. Corona is a great challenge, and world was doubting about India’s ability.”
PM duirng his address in the Rajya Sabha suggested changing name of Indian National Congress to Federation of Congress.
“Leaders of some opposition parties even boycotted all-party meeting on Covid-19 but country is still moving forward, ” he added.
“We do not see any conflicts between national progress and regional aspirations. The biggest threat to our democracy is dynastic parties. When one family gets too prevalent in a political party, political talent suffers. We will never learn lessons in democracy from those who trampled over democracy in 1975.
He said that under Congress gives lectures about federalism but when it was in power at the Centre, in those decades chief ministers were removed over “petty issues”. He then claimed that chief minister of Andhra Pradesh was sacked because the son of then prime minister did not like the arrangement at the airport. “Similarly, Karnataka’s popular chief minister Veerendra Patil was unceremoniously removed from the post, that too, when he was not in good health,” said PM Modi, adding that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) doesn’t work with such a narrow mindset.
- We are the only economy in the world witnessing high growth & medium inflation in the world, bringing it down to 4-5% in comparison to double-digit numbers before 2014-2020.
- We have to work for people irrespective of which side of the aisle we are on. The mindset that being in the Opposition means stop working towards solving people’s issues is wrong.
- MSMEs and Agriculture sector has been generating the largest employment opportunities in the country.
- India is the mother of democracy. Democracy, debate has been going on in India for centuries. Congress’ problem is that they never thought of anything apart from dynasty.
