Water sports, which were stopped earlier due to Covid-19 lockdown, have commenced at the Dal Lake in Srinagar, while maintaining safety precautions against the virus. Water-sports such as swimming, canoeing and kayaking are on in full swing at the world-famous lake.
Moreover, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated Water Sports Centre under PMDP scheme at Nehru Park, Dal lake. He also launched the International Standard Water-Sports Equipments and to encourage water sports in Jammu region, a similar Water-Sports Centre is coming up at Ranjit Sagar Lake, Basohli.
The authorities had stopped all sports activities including water games in March this year when the government had announced the nationwide lockdown. Dal Lake attracts a large number of tourists each year from across the world and plays a huge role in the economy of the region.
