MTV Movie & TV Awards 2021 were held at the Palladium in Los Angeles on Sunday and the star-studded evening saw several major celebrities walking the red carpet together. With some of the most popular shows and movies nominated for the Golden Popcorn award, it was a big night for Marvel as both WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars took home big honours. The superhero series that gives starring roles to supporting superhero characters Wanda Maximoff and Vision, was chosen best TV show in the fan-voted awards, while Elizabeth Olson won for best performance for her portrayal of the lead character Wanda.
To nab the MTV Golden Popcorn in this category, Olsen beat out Anya Taylor-Joy in ‘The Queen’s Gambit’, Elliot Page in ‘The Umbrella Academy‘, Emma Corrin in ‘The Crown’, and Michaela Coel in ‘I May Destroy You’. Besides taking home the award for Best Show, ‘WandaVision’ also won Best Villain, and Best Fight.
Marvel Studios had also recently revealed the release date for her highly anticipated film Black Widow.
Scarlett Johansson was honoured with the MTV Generation Award and pranked by husband and actor Colin Jost while she was virtually accepted the award. Johansson was giving her winner’s speech when Jost, who has long been a writer on NBC’s variety show Saturday Night Live, decided to dump a pot of slime on her head.
