Visit pilgrimage sites of south India with IRCTC, board train at Chandigarh, Ambala

If you have not visited south India, then here is your chance. As travel restrictions ease, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) (a subsidiary of the Indian Railways) has launched a series of Bharat Darshan Tourist Train aimed at taking people to various pilgrim towns.

An 11-day yatra of South India pilgrim sites will commence on February 14 and tickets can be booked by visiting the IRCTC website: https://www.irctctourism.com/

IRCTC regional manager MPS Raghav said that the fare for the journey would be ₹10,395 per person. The package includes non-AC room, road transport, vegetarian food, sightseeing, travel escort and personal security fee for night stay apart from tickets.

The 11-day excursion tourism train will leave Chandigarh on the morning of February 14 and travel via Ambala, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Panipat, Delhi Cantt, Rewari and Alwar.

During the yatra, pilgrimage sites of South India like Kanchipuram, Kanyakumari, Rameswaram, Madurai, Mallikarjun will be covered.

The IRCTC regional manager also said that social distance will be taken care of during the journey. The coach will be sanitised from time to time. Along with this, guidelines issued by the government will be followed. During the journey, passengers will be required to wear masks and download the Aarogya Setu app.
