Uttarakhand Nurse Raped and Murdered While Returning Home, Accused Arrested

In a tragic incident that has sparked outrage, a 33-year-old nurse from Uttarakhand was brutally raped and murdered while on her way home from work. The victim, a resident of Islamnagar in Gadarpur, worked at a private hospital in Nainital and lived with her 11-year-old daughter in Bilaspur Colony.

The nurse went missing on July 30, prompting her sister to file a missing person’s report at the Rudrapur police station the following day. After an intensive search, her body was discovered over a week later in an empty plot in Dibdiba, Uttar Pradesh. The body was subsequently sent for a post-mortem examination.

The accused, identified as Dharmendra, a labourer from Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. According to police reports, Dharmendra attacked the nurse with the intent to rob her. He forcibly took her to a secluded area, where he raped and then strangled her to death. The accused fled the scene with the victim’s jewellery and money.

The police managed to track down Dharmendra by analyzing CCTV footage that captured the victim’s last known movements, including her journey in a tempo from Indra Chowk in Rudrapur. They also traced the location of her stolen mobile phone, leading them to the accused.

This heinous crime has added to the growing concerns over women’s safety in the region, especially as the country grapples with a series of similar incidents. The police have assured the public that justice will be served, and the accused will face the full extent of the law.
