UTCA Chandigarh beat Delhi Capitals Development Squad by four wickets

UTCA, Chandigarh, logged a four-wicket win over Delhi Capitals Development Squad in the ongoing JP Atray Memorial Cricket Tournament for Trident Trophy.      

Winning the toss and electing to bat, at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium, Delhi Capital Development Squad scored 235/8 in 50 overs.  Rajesh Sharma (62) Prerak Mankad (58), Kedar Devdhar (33) and Mayank Rawat (29) were the main run getters for the side. Bhagmender Singh (3/24) was the most successful bowler. In reply, UTCA scored 236/6 in 49.1 overs.  Taranpreet Singh (42) and Shivam Bhambri (44) were involved in an opening stand of 92 runs in 19.5 overs.  Thereafter, Gaurav Puri  scored unbeaten 75 off  78 balls and Rahul Sharma contributed 27 off 44 balls. The duo was involved in an unbroken stand of 73 runs for the 7th wicket to take the team past the winning post.  Shiva Singh (3/43) and Pulkit Narang (2/38) were the main wicket takers for Delhi Capitals.  Gaurav Puri of UTCA was named TRIDENT Man of the Match. The award was given by Sarban Singh former Additional Chief Secretary, Haryana. In the second match played, at Maharaja Yadavindra Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, UPCA defeated PCC Mohali by three wickets to garner four points.  UPCA winning the toss opted to field first against PCC Mohali.  PCC Mohali’s innings was stabled by Abhijeet Garg, who scored 103 off 112 balls, with 10 boundaries and two sixes, and Naman Dhir, who posted 40 off 48 balls, with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes. They both added 122 runs for the second wicket. PCC innings ended at 254 runs in 50 overs.  For UPCA, the bowling honours were shared by Yash Dayal (4/34), Akeev Khan (3/56) and Karan Sharma (2/29). In reply, UPCA scored 255/7 in 49.3 overs to record a three wickets win and garner four points. UPCA’s innings was held together by Akashdeep Nath (87 off 90 balls with 8 boundaries), Abhishek Goswami (44 off 53 balls with 7 boundaries and one six) and Sandeep Tomar (43 off 48 balls with 3 boundaries and one six). Barinder Sran, Gurnoor Brar and Prerit Dutta took two wickets each for the bowling side. Nath was presented with the TRIDENT Man of the match award by Bhupinder Singh Sr, former National Selector. In the third match, played at GMSSS Sector 26, Players XI Delhi defeated PCA Colts by five wickets. PCA Colts batsmen floundered and were bowled out for a measly 113 runs in 37.4 overs– the lowest total of the tournament this year.  In reply, Players XI Delhi registered win in 31 overs.
