UT Administrator meet NITI Aayog Members in Chandigarh

Banwarilal Purohit, UT Administrator Chandigarh held a meeting with a team of Niti Aayog including Prof. Ramesh Chand, Member, Sh. Kundan Kumar, IAS, Adviser, Dr Biswanath Bishnoi, Deputy Adviser in the presence of Sh. Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator to discuss the issues of Chandigarh Administration lying pending at various Ministries.
The Administrator shared that Chandigarh has achieved most of the goals set by the NITI Aayog in the third edition of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) India Index 2020-21, whereas there are certain issues that need attention at the center level.
The issue of setting up of ‘Chandigarh Innovation Circle’ was raised which is aimed to serve as a platform for collaborations between higher education, R&D institutions, Industries, investors, startups and Government agencies, which can give to innovation led growth and employment.
Enhancing rate of monthly Pension: Rs.1000/- to RS.2,000/- (old Age Pension, Widow Pension and Pension to Disabled Persons (having disability below 70% ) and Rs.2,000/- to Rs.2,500/-(having disability above 70% was another subject that was tabled before the members of Niti Aayog that required attention at the ministerial level.
Formation of 14 more Atal tinkering labs in schools, Release of Subsidy for Installation of Rooftop Solar Power Projects were some other issues that were raised during the discussion. The Administrator pressed the expedition of these issues before the Niti Aayog panel and expected their full cooperation in putting forth the interest of Chandigarh Administration.
