UT Administration submits plan to CPCB to improve air quality

To improve the air quality in Chandigarh, UT Administration has submitted its action plan to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

On Monday, International Day of Clean Air and Blue Skies was celebrated across the country. The purpose of celebrating this day was to make people of every section aware that clean air and sky are very important for our health.

The Central Government has also commenced the National Clean Air Programme, wherein work is to be done to improve air quality by the year 2024.

In view of this programme, UT Administration submitted its action plan to CPCB.

The administration informed that about 200 km of bicycle tracks have been built in Chandigarh and automated machines have been installed to clean the roads. The plan also includes setting up of construction and waste processing units, maximizing LPG for domestic and commercial purpose, PNG coverage, awareness of air quality index, implementation of graded response action plan and promoting greenery activities by reducing paver blocks.
