Twitter suffered multiple outages in many countries across the world, leaving millions of users unable to post to its platform. “Twitter has been down for many of you and we’re working to get it back up and running for everyone. We had some trouble with our internal systems and don’t have any evidence of a security breach or hack,” said the micro-blogging platform on Friday.
The company confirmed that an “inadvertent change” made to its internal systems had caused the crash.
The social media site went down for a couple of minutes and though it was quickly brought back online, users were unable to tweet or retweet anything for more than an hour.
Those who tried to post saw an error message saying Twitter was “overcapacity”, or a note simple saying: “Oops, something went wrong.”
