Chandigarh: In view of the traffic jams and parking problems faced during the festive season, the traffic police will implement one-way traffic system from October 24. Also, 33 parking areas have been identified in different sectors for Dussehra for the convenience of people. These parking spaces have been temporarily built around the markets where parking will be free.
SP (traffic) Manoj Kumar Meena has instructed the traffic police to take all the necessary steps to prevent traffic jams. Under this, traffic police will implement the one-way system around crowded markets including Sector 19, 22, 46, 17, 35 and 42. All the shopkeepers have been asked to follow the guidelines to contain spread of Covid-19.
On Dussehra, traffic routes will be changed in many areas of the city except Sector 17, 34 and Dhanas. CCTVs will be used to keep an eye and vehicles which have been parked wrong will be confiscated. The driver will have to pay a fine of ₹1,300.
People will be able to park their vehicles at these spots:
1- Government Model High School, Sector 8-B
2- Government Model Senior Secondary High School, near Gurdwara Sahib, Sector 15-C
3- Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22-A, small park built in front of it and Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 22-C
4- Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 18
5- Government Model Senior Secondary, Sector 19-C, and Government High School, Sector 19-D
6- Government Girl Model School, Sector 20-B; Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 20-D, and Government Model High School
7- Government Model High School, Sector 29-B; Government High School and Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 29-A
8- Government Model High School, Sector 30; Guru Nanak Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Sector 30-B
9- Manimajra Government Model Senior Secondary School, Government Model High School
