Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas landed in Mumbai on Thursday night, sending the grapevine into a tizzy. Things have been getting pretty serious between the two and if rumours doing the rounds are to be believed, Priyanka wanted Nick to meet her mother, Madhu Chopra. Whatever the reason is, Priyanka and Nick did not wish to be photographed, and carefully hid their faces from the paparazzi.
From painting the town red together to leaving flirtatious comments on each other’s Instagram posts, all the signs point to a romance brewing between Priyanka and Nick. Earlier this month, the two hit a relationship milestone, when Nick took Priyanka as his date to his cousin’s wedding. They arrived hand-in-hand at the ceremony, where Priyanka met the entire Jonas clan.
Priyanka and Nick first set tongues wagging when they arrived at last year’s Met Gala together, both dressed in Ralph Lauren creations. Jimmy Kimmel took a dig at their age difference (she is 35, he is 25) on his show and asked Priyanka, “Are you dating Nick Jonas? Isn’t he like, 11 years old?”
“We were both wearing Ralph Lauren and we decided to go together. It was fun. I didn’t ask his age. Eleven?” she laughed, adding, “We were on the same table and we already know each other. So he was like ‘Hey, you wanna go together?’ And I was like ‘Yeah, okay, let’s go together.’ It ended up working out.”
It was Priyanka’s Quantico co-star Graham Rogers who introduced them, Nick revealed in an interview. “We met up like in New York the first time and the same day I think we found out that we are both going to the Met Gala with Ralph Lauren. And as strange as it sounds but we couldn’t have planned it. We just had a great time. She’s a lovely person and I’m dying now to go to India,” he said.
The link-up rumours were reignited last month, when they spent the Memorial Day weekend with each other. On Friday, Priyanka and Nick attended the Beauty and the Beast Live concert at the Hollywood Bowl. According to an eyewitness, they refrained from any “obvious PDA” and “snuck out right as the show was ending”.
On Saturday, Priyanka and Nick went to a Los Angeles Dodgers game together, where they “were talking really closely and were very smiley and very happy,” according to an onlooker.
They rounded off the weekend with a yacht ride with their friends. Pictures of Priyanka and Nick cosying up under a blanket went viral on the internet.
A tabloid quoted a source as revealing that the two were in a relationship. “They are dating and it’s brand new. It’s a good match and they are both interested in each other,” the insider told the website.
Even as gossip mills went into a frenzy and churned out story after story of Priyanka and Nick’s newfound love, they fanned the flames by stepping up their PDA on Instagram. If Nick could not stop gushing over Priyanka’s gorgeous smile, she could not decide if he was cuter than a koala.
Priyanka and Nick gave gossip columns something to talk about when they were snapped on a dinner date earlier this month. According to reports, they dined at Toca Madera restaurant in West Hollywood, where they “cosied up together at their corner table”.
A source was quoted as telling a website, “The pair were very affectionate with one another, with Priyanka running her hands through his hair as they cosied up together at their corner table in the garden patio. They were cute and seemed to be enjoying each other’s company, laughing and smiling.”
On June 9, Priyanka bonded with the Jonas family at Nick’s cousin Rachel Tamburelli’s wedding in Atlantic City, New Jersey. After the wedding, Priyanka joined Nick and his family for a casual Sunday brunch. Pictures doing the rounds on the internet show the actress having a blast with the Jonases.
Priyanka and Nick even travelled to the wedding together. Recently, they were clicked arriving at New York’s JFK airport. While Nick kept it casual in a T-shirt, denim jacket and skinny jeans, Priyanka looked stylish in a cropped pink knit top and matching wide-legged bottoms.
Since then, Priyanka and Nick have been clicked on a series of dates. Fans are already shipping the couple, and have nicknamed them ‘Nickyanka’.
Rumour has it that Nick is head over heels in love with Priyanka and has asked her to move in with him. It is also being said that Nick wants to take things with Priyanka to the next level soon. With everything going swimmingly on the professional front, he wants to settle down and start a family, and he really hopes that she is the one.
So far, Priyanka has maintained that she prefers to keep her personal life to herself. “When there is a ring on the finger, the world will know,” has been her constant refrain. Now that she has thrown caution to the wind, is an official confirmation of the relationship on the cards? We’ll have to wait and watch.
