Thane Blast: 9 Dead, Factory Owners Booked

On Thursday in the area of Dombivli, located in Thane, a chemical factory engulfed by a huge fire which ended up killing nine individuals and leaving tens others wounded. The incidence was caused by an explosion from one of the chemicals production boilers belonging Amudan Chemicals Pvt Ltd., and has since elicited condemnation from many quarters including legal actions levelled against culpable homicide charges on the owners of the factory.

Cause of the Blast and Aftermath:

Around 1:40pm on Thursday, an explosion, caused by a broken boiler, shook the locality kilometers away through shattering windows and damaging the neighboring structures. Subsequently, inferno took over at the factory while spreading out into other adjacent blocks emitting dark smoke that filled air.

Rescue Efforts and Compensation:

The flames were fought by firefighters for hours, nonetheless they won over. Both the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were involved in saving the lives of those caught in the flames.

The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, has ordered a complete inquiry into the issue. This amounts to a compensation worth Rs. 5 lakh for each family whose member died in the accident. The injured have been taken care of in hospitals in the nearby locations where they are being treated at government expense

Legal Action Against Factory Owners:

Police have registered a case of culpable homicide against the owners of Amudan Chemicals. This serious charge reflects the potential criminal negligence that may have contributed to the disaster. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the blast and identify any further culpability.

Following the tragedy experienced in Thane, there is grief and anger in the air. The Thane community has lost people and property to a considerable extent. Authorities have promised prompt action against the culprits and measures that would prevent future occurrences of a similar nature.
