Bangkok

Olympic silver medallist P. V. Sindhu progressed to the final of the $350,000 Thailand Open World Tour Super 500 tournament in Bangkok with a 23-21, 16-21, 21-9 win over Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung on Saturday.

After a close first game, Tunjung fought back to take the second. But Sindhu surged ahead early in the third to take a 5-1 lead. The Indonesian again fought back to 7-8, but the second seed from there on ran away with the game, winning 21-9.

Sindhu and Okuhara have played each other 10 times before, winning five matches each. They most recently met in the quarterfinals of the All England Open, where Sindhu won 20-22, 21-18, 21-18.
