Chennai Super Kings (CSK) cricketer Suresh Raina on Saturday pulled out of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 and has decided to return home, citing personal reasons. CSK informed about Raina’s decision through a post on Twitter.
“Suresh Raina has returned to India for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of the IPL season. Chennai Super Kings offers complete support to Suresh and his family during this time,” read the tweet.
Raina has been an integral part of the team since the very beginning and his departure will come as a massive blow to the team.
The development comes just a day after news broke of several CSK members testing positive for Covid-19. At least 10 members of the CSK, which is currently stationed in Dubai, tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday, making it the first such case among the eight teams which are in UAE for the IPL 2020.
The upcoming IPL season is set to begin on September 19 with CSK taking on defending champions Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener.
