Sub National Immunization Day (SNID) Polio day observed in Chandigarh

On the first day of Sub National Immunization Day (SNID) Polio September, as many as  37,637 children were immunized .

89 supervisors monitored the SNID activity for which 617 teams (consisting of 2 members in a team) of vaccinators were deployed for house to house visits. The monitoring is done under the supervision of Dr. Amandeep Kang, Director Health & Family Welfare cum Mission Director – NHM , District immunisation officer, Dr Manjit Singh Trehan and other Senior Health Officials.The DHS visited construction sites and gave polio drops to children along with other health officials.

SNID Pulse Polio Campaign is being done to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 years with Oral Polio Drops. Sensitization trainings of the team members were conducted prior to the SNID round.

Pulse Polio Teams visited high risk/vulnerable areas like Khuda Lahora, Khuda Jassu, Khuda Alisher, Sarangpur, Resettlement Colony Dhanas, Kaimbwala, Maloya, Daddumajra, Madrasi Colony, Indira Colony, Bapudham, Mauli Village, Mauli Complex, Vikas Nagar, Manimajra, Colony no 4, Faidan, Hallomajra, Ramdarbar, Attawa, Palsora, Behlana, Raipur Khurd, Kajheri, Kishangarh, Dariya, Attawa, Tin colony, Janta Colony, Bhagwanpura, Citco, Shastri Nagar and all the construction sites to immunize the kids with pulse polio drops.

 “TAARE ZAMEEN PAR-A NIGHT VIGIL”, an innovative activity conducted during Pulse Polio rounds by Health Department to cover children which are accompanied by their parents during the day and come to halt at the various odd points of the city. To carry out this activity, 4 teams are deputed from 8 pm onwards from today. Team members will move around and vaccinate children in different parts of the city including bus stands, railway station, showroom corridors, subzi mandis and areas where rag pickers/ beggars etc. tend to settle down with their children in night hours.

To maintain the polio free status with the 100% polio immunization, the Health Department appeals to all residents of the city to co-operate and get all children in the age group 0-5 years immunized during this Campaign.
