A proposal to rename a street in Andrews Ganj area after Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has been approved, said Abhishek Dutt, South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s (SDMC) Congress councillor, on the 35th birth anniversary of the late actor on Thursday.
The road, ‘Late Sushant Singh Rajput Marg’, has been named in Inder Colony adjacent to Defence Colony police station. While Inder Colony is a slum area, Dutt argues that the reason for choosing this particular road was because of the zeal Sushant Singh Rajput’s movie ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ created amongst the youth of the area.
Dutt in September 2020 had moved the proposal to name the road after the actor. “It was cleared by the SDMC House in its meeting yesterday,” a senior official said.
“Six months ago I received a request to rename a street in Andrews Ganj area after Sushant Singh Rajput. The proposal has finally been approved,” he said.
“We will soon be inaugurating this street. It is very important to give him the respect he deserves,” he added.
The Bihar administration had also in July 2019 renamed a road after Sushant in his hometown Purnea. The ‘SSR Road’ goes from Madhubani to Mata Chowk SSR road.
His fans and admirers took to social media to remember the actor whose untimely demise was followed by a high-profile investigation. While the star’s celebrity friends shared heartfelt messages on social media, his sister Shweta Singh Kirti announced a special scholarship fund in his memory.
Sushant died by alleged suicide in his apartment on June 14, 2020. His passing away triggered a massive controversy, with his family alleging foul play and levelling several allegations on his girlfriend and actor Rhea Chakraborty.
Currently, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is probing the matter surrounding his death.https://hellotricity.in/poland-names-city-square-after-amitabh-bachchans-father/
