To reduce traffic on Madhya Marg, Chandigarh administration has started widening the industrial area road. The effort of the administration is that people going to Panchkula should also use the industrial area roadway to avoid traffic jam on Madhya Marg.
As soon as the work of this road gets completed, it will become easier for people coming from Zirakpur to reach Madhya Marg. Instead of coming to Tribune Chowk, they can divert to Madhya Marg from the previous roundabout.
The project was started by the administration at a cost of ₹10 crore and will be completed by the beginning of next year. This will also improve connectivity between Chandigarh and Panchkula. Superintending engineer CB Ojha said, “Two roads are to be widened here and the work has been started. With the widening of these roads, traffic jams will be reduced. Apart from this, a bicycle track is also to be built. The first road will be connected to Poultry Farm Chowk and CTU Workshop Industrial Area. The second will be parallel to the Madhya Marg and Dakshin Marg. It will pass through the industrial area and will connect Purv Marg to Chandigarh railway station.”
