Rest of Punjab Senior T20 team wins by 46 runs

Kapurthala district winners of T-20 inter district tournament were pitted against Rest of Punjab at IS Bindra PCA stadium Mohali. Winning the toss Kapurthala put Rest of Punjab in and their decision boom ranged as wicket keeper Prabhsimran Singh who played for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL and southpaw Abhishek Sharma rattled up 97 runs for the first wicket in 12.1 overs.

Abhishek Sharma was caught of the bowling of Ujjwal for 40 off 37 balls inclusive of 2 boundaries and 2 sixes. Abhishek Sharma’s exit brought skipper Mandeep Singh on the stage and in the company of Prabhsimran Singh, he put on 101 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket before Prabhsimran Singh was caught by Sukhdeep Bajwa of Vikas Chouhan for century 108 off 61 balls laced with 8 well struck boundaries and equal number of soaring sixes with at a strike rate of 177.05.

Next man, Harpreet Brar could not open his account as he was lapped up by Krishan of Vikas Chouhan. Mandeep Singh remained unbeaten on 30 off 20 balls with 2 boundaries and 1 six. Rest of Punjab innings ended on 199 for 3 in 20 overs. Vikas Chouhan 2 for 25 was the most successful bowler for Kapurthala.

Kapurthala started their chase through Bikramjit Singh and Pawanjot Sekhon and the duo added 42 runs for the 1st wicket in 5.2 overs before Pawanjot Sekhon caught by Salil Arora of Baltej Singh for 7. BIkramjit went on to score a quick-fire 53 off 30 balls with 7 boundaries and 3 sixes before being caught by Ramandeep off Rahul Sharma for 53 off 30 balls inclusive of 7 boundaries and 3 sixes.

Another useful partnership of 46 runs between Krishan 17 and Himanshu Satyawan 31 was the highlight of Kapurthala innings. Kapurthala made 153 for 8 in 20 overs and lost the match by 46 runs. For Rest of Punjab Siddharth Kaul 4 for 24, Harpreet Brar 2 for 15, Baltej Singh 1 for 16 and Rahul Sharma 1 for 30 were the principal wicket takers for Rest of Punjab. Puneet Bali Hony Secretary, RP Singla Treasurer, and Deepak Sharma CEO, PCA gave away the awards.
