Reopening of schools for class 1-7 deferred to December 15 in Mumbai

The reopening of classes 1-7 in Mumbai has been deferred by two weeks in the backdrop of the new Covid-19 variant Omicron. Over 10.5 lakh primary and secondary students can return to schools from December 15. The class 8-12 students will continue their schools in the hybrid mode.

The state had on Monday issued a circular allowing reopening of primary and secondary schools from December 1. In cities, students of standards 8 to 12 are attending offline and online classes. In Mumbai, there are 8 lakh students of standards 8-12. In rural areas, students from classes 5 to 12 are attending offline and online classes.
