For better liaisoning between the students, unaided colleges, management and government; Joint Association of Colleges (JAC) comprising 13 different associations of Punjab had held elections for the first time.
Educationists have been appointed as its office bearers. Chandigarh University chancellor S Satnam Singh Sandhu has been appointed as the chief patron, and Nursing Colleges Association president Charanjit Singh Walia as the patron. Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) president and Aryans Group chairman Dr Anshu Kataria has been appointed as the co-chairman and S Nirmal Singh, ETT Federation, as the senior vice president.
Addressing the media, Walia and Nirmal Singh said, “We will work to resolve the problems being faced by the institutions by bridging the gap between the students, parents, staff, management and the government.”
Sandhu said, “JAC has been formed to overcome the crisis faced by the education sector and to uplift its standard in the institutions of Punjab.” Kataria said, “The vision of our association is to ensure that every student gets the best education in a globally benchmarked environment to realise dreams of a better future.”
Other members of the JAC were also appointed unanimously as follows:
Federation School Associations president S Jagjit Singh as the president;
Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA) president Dr Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal as the chairman; Punjab Unaided Degree Colleges Association (PUDCA) president S Sukhmander Singh Chatha as the general secretary; Shimanshu Gupta of ITI Association as the finance secretary; S Rajinder Dhanoa of Polytechnic Association as the secretary; and Jasnik Singh from BEd Association, Dr Satwinder Sandhu from BEd Association GNDU Colleges, Vipan Sharma from Confederation of Unaided Colleges Association as the vice presidents of the association.
