Ranjit Singh Reddy elected president of Dera Bassi Municipal Council

Congress councillor Ranjit Singh Reddy was elected as the new President of the Dera Bassi Municipal Council on Friday.

The meeting of the municipal council was held on Friday in the presence of Dera Bassi Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kuldeep Bawa and the councillors elected their president.

District Congress Committee, Mohali president, Deepinder Dhillon said, “The presidents of Zirakpur and Dera Bassi councils have been elected and now our focus will be on the development of both the towns. We will provide clean and transparent administration to the people, as they gave us such a big responsibility.”

Talking about Zirakpur, he said that the cleanliness and overflowing sewage are the major problems that are irking the residents of Zirakpur. We will resolve both these problems on priority. He added the Dera Bassi council vice-president will be elected in the next meeting as decided by the councillors.

Notably, the results of the municipal council polls were announced on February 17. Congress had won 13 seats out of total 19 seats; three seats went to SAD, two to independents and one seat won by BJP.
