Rajasthan Royals win by 23 runs, Mumbai Indians face second consecutive defeat

Ishan Kishan initially led the chase for Mumbai Indians after Jos Buttler’s second IPL century led Rajasthan Royals to 193/8 batting first.

That was until 19-year-old Tilak Varma came into the middle and took the chase by the scruff of the neck. Both scored half centuries and put up a partnership of 81 off 54 balls. While Kishan fell on 54 off 43 balls, Varma was dismissed on 61 off 33 balls. MI are now depending on Kieron Pollard to lead them in their chase. RR looked set for a score well above 200 but MI pulled things back by taking as many as five wickets in the last two overs. Buttler first put up 82 runs off 50 balls with RR captain Sanju Samson with the pair dominating the middle overs. Shimron Hetmyer then smacked the ball all corners as he put up 53 off 24 with Buttler for the fourth wicket. Jasprit Bumrah and Tymal Mills bowled the 19th and 20th overs in the RR innings in which they gave just 10 runs.
