Rains bring life to a standstil

CHANDIGARH: Yet another rainy day kept life at a standstill in the city. Student attendance in government schools improved marginally, but continued to be as low as 15% in various educational institutes and less than 50% in all schools on Tuesday. With weather expected to improve from Thursday, teachers are expecting increase in the student presence.
According to the Chandigarh met department, the wet spell is likely to continue till Wednesday. However, it will become dry thereafter. Another western disturbance is expected over the weekend, which will bring along clouds though chances of rainfall have been stated to be bleak. Chandigarh met director Surender Paul said, “By Wednesday evening the weather will improve.”

On Sunday, the same was 17.9 degrees, 3 degrees below normal. The maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded at 20 degrees, one degree below normal.
The minimum temperature was few notches down at 11.1 degrees on Tuesday. On Monday the minimum temperature went up to 11.3 degrees, 6 degrees above normal due to clouds. The same had witnessed a drop on Sunday as it was noted at 5.6 degrees. On Saturday, it was 6.7 degrees, one degree above normal.
At airport observatory maximum temperature was recorded at 16 degrees and minimum was recorded at 12.8 degrees.
