Punjab & Haryana High Court restricts entry in its premises with Covid-19 surge

In view of surging Covid-19 cases, various restrictions have been imposed in Punjab and Haryana High Court for ensuring the safety of judges, advocates, officers and litigants.

A special committee constituted for redressal of grievances of the Bar Council and Bar Association in a meeting decided various curbs in the Court.

The committee has decided to allow entry in High Court premises only to those advocates whose cases are listed on that day. Now, the entry in the premises will only be allowed through Gate Number 1.

During the meeting, the committee also directed all in charge of various branches of Punjab and Haryana High Court to ensure that minimum possible staff, not exceeding 50%, shall attend the office on any given day.

Similarly, the remaining staff that will work from home have been barred from leaving the station and asked to immediately report for the duty in the office as and when so required.

The Photostat and chemists’ shop will continue to remain open while all other shops including canteens and High Court pantry will remain close.

“The Mediation and Conciliation Centre, Arbitration Centre and Lok Adalats shall remain closed,” the order further read.
