Punjab govt makes physical education activities compulsory for students

Punjab Government has decided to make physical education-related activities compulsory for school children. This decision will be implemented after the schools reopen, following Covid-19.

According to a spokesperson of Punjab school education department, after education minister Vijay Inder Singla gave the green signal, the Director SCERT issued letters to all district education officers and school heads in this regard. The spokesperson informed that various sports for physical activities have been included for the students from class 1 to 12.

The purpose of initiating physical activities for the students is to identify their hidden talents, to ensure their all-round development and to give them the right direction by providing a high-level platform for sports by selecting talented players. According to the spokesperson, these activities will help the students be physically fit as well as increase their flexibility and strengthen their muscles. This will also increase their tolerance level, focus and physical balance and develop a sense of leadership.
