Punjab Government has issued instructions to the authorities that admission should not be denied to students in government schools under any situation. So far, this year the enrolment in government schools has increased by 15.61% and is the highest increase in a single year till date.
Disclosing this, a spokesperson of the Punjab School Education Department said that some complaints were received from parents of children that their wards were denied admission on pretext of high enrolment and lack of infrastructure.
In this context, the Secretary School Education Krishan Kumar directed all the DEOs (secondary and elementary) of the state to give admission to the aspirants in the government schools in any case. He also directed them to make appropriate arrangements at the local level for the lack of infrastructure.
Schools have also been asked to send proposals to start double shifts where the strength of students is very high.
Earlier, the education department had directed the school heads not to force the students for transfer certificates in connection with their admission in government schools and asked the school heads to admit such students at their own level. At the same time, the school principals have been directed to get a written request from the parents of the students who do not have the transfer certificate.
