Punjab Gau Sewa Commission Chairman Sachin Sharma met with Governor of Punjab Banwari Lal Purohit and handed over a memorandum for strict action against bovine killers.
Calling the issue as sensitive; the Governor assured stern action against perpetrators. Informing about this development, Sharma said that incidents related to bovine killings, cruelty, and smuggling, is on the steep rise and these incidents have caused a great deal of resentment among the general public, and feelings of Hindus have been hurt, which could lead to instability in the state and undermine communal harmony.
The Chairman further said that Punjab is a frontier state whose border passes through Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Haryana, and National Highway via Saharanpur to Uttar Pradesh, and because of fog in the winter season, the cow smuggling incidents increased. Sachin Sharma said that due to the lack of any strict law, these miscreants are frequently committing such crimes. He said that strict legal action is required to curb the menace so that such incidents didn’t happen again in the future.
