Punjab government on Wednesday issued orders to give relief to the employees and pensioners in the procedure of reimbursement of medical expenses. The government said in a tweet that it has authorised civil surgeons to issue chronic certificates at the district level.
“Giving relief to the employees/pensioners in the procedure of reimbursement of medical expenses, the Punjab Government has issued orders on Wednesday in which Civil Surgeons were made authorised to issue chronic certificates at the district level,” it said.
Health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu said that as per the previous instructions, Medical College Amritsar, Faridkot, Patiala, PGI Chandigarh, AIIMS New Delhi and Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh, were recognised for issuing certificates regarding chronic diseases.
He said that it has been brought to his notice that employees had to face many difficulties in obtaining this certificate. Considering the demand of employees, the Punjab government has also given this authority to the civil surgeons.
Sidhu further said that now, chronic diseases certificate (CDC) of chronic diseases such as chronic renal failure, insulin dependent diabetes mellitus, chronic glaucoma, hypertension, hypothyroidism, diabetes mellitus type-2, hepatitis b, hepatitis c, hyperthyroidism and rhenumatoid arthritis certificates will also be issued by civil surgeon’s office at the district level. The health minister said that if super-specialist is required to issue chronic certificates of diseases, which is not available at the district level hospital, then the patient will be referred to higher government health institutes for consultation and necessary tests.
