PU to open hostel for research scholars on Nov 1, read the SOPs here

Panjab University (PU) is going to open hostels for research scholars from November 1. Research scholars will be required to undergo a Covid test before coming to the varsity. Based on their report, they will be given place in hostels. Covid test done seven days ago will be valid. Guidelines for research scholars, employees and mess operators were released on Wednesday. Apart from this, many other instructions were also given.

Research scholars will have to follow these rules:

– No outings between 8pm and 6am.

– Parents’ mobile numbers will have to be provided in the hostels so that information can be given in case of emergency.

-No visitors allowed in hostels.

– Use of TV and AC in the common room won’t be allowed.

– Aarogya Setu app has to be downloaded.

– On any illness, the warden or supervisor has to be immediately informed.

– One must wear mask and maintain social distancing.

– Spitting in public places will be prohibited.

Instructions for employees and mess operators

– Aarogya Setu app has to be downloaded.

– Temperature of people coming to hostels will be checked.

– Chairs will be fixed for office staff.

– There should be minimum movement of people in the office.

– High contact surfaces such as elevator buttons, handles, public counters, intercom systems, telephones, printers/scanners, etc, should be cleaned twice.

– There should be no gathering of employees anywhere in the hostel premises.

– Mess contractors should keep a check on the health of their employees.

– Contractors will prepare a daily health bulletin of their workers and present it to the concerned warden before 5pm daily.

– Mess workers will always wear masks, gloves, hats and clean clothes and frequently wash hands or use sanitisers.

– Vegetables should be cleaned with vinegar, salt powder and warm water.

– Only cooked food will be served in the mess.

– The contractor shall ensure that workers do not leave the university without any purpose. – Milk packets should be washed with soap and water before use.
