PU syndicate to discuss pending issues of students, teachers on Nov 23

Members of Panjab University have again been split into two factions over the syndicate meeting. Syndicate members have been demanding a forum on the pending issues of students and teachers, which has not been conducted since July. Angered by this, the syndicate members have themselves proposed a meeting on the official WhatsApp group on November 23 at 10:30am.

The PU syndicate has a total of 15 members, with three members and vice-chancellor (V-C) Prof Raj Kumar on one side and around 11 members on the other, who will be joining the meeting. The V-C has also been sent a proposal to attend the meeting, but no reply has been received yet.

The syndicate members said that a meeting should be conducted every month to resolve the issues of the university, but for five months it has not been held on the pretext of corona. Last week, the members had also protested on the varsity campus demanding immediate conduct of the senate polls and a syndicate meeting.

On Tuesday, the V-C gave the additional charge of controller of examinations to Jagat Bhushan, pending approval of the syndicate and the senate.

These issues will be discussed:

To conduct the Senate and Syndicate elections

Starting regular classes at PU

Issue of promotion of teachers

Educational issues of colleges affiliated to PU

Delay in results of examinations Delay in resolving educational issues
