PU, CCS Agri University among top 5 in ARIIA 2020, Chitkara in top 25.

Chandigarh’s Punjab University (PU) and Haryana’s Chaudhary Charan Singh (CCS) Agricultural University are among the top five government-aided varsities, while Chitkara University made it to the Top 25 in the private Universities’ category in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2020, launched by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu.

ARIIA is an initiative of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India. It aims to promote innovation, assess colleges and varsities on criteria ranging from support for entrepreneurship development to innovative learning method, intellectual property generation, technology transfer and commercialisation among other aspects.

While PU and CCS Agricultural varsity are placed second and third among government-aided universities, Indian Institute of Chemical Technology, Maharashtra, tops this category.

IIT Madras leads the rankings in the category of Institute of National Importance, central varsities and centrally-funded technical universities followed by IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, Bengaluru’s Indian Institute of Science, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur and IIT Mandi.

The government and government-aided college section see College of Engineering, Pune, topping the charts followed by PES Institute of Engineering, Karnataka.

Among higher educational institutions exclusively for women, the top rank went to Avinashlingam Institute for Home Sciences and Higher Education in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu and second place was clinched by Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, New Delhi.
