PSEB postpones Class 10, 12 exams in view of spike in Covid cases

In view of rising Covid cases in Punjab, Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) has decided to postpone the board exams of Class 10 and 12 for a month. According to the new datesheet, Class 12 exams will start from April 10. Whereas, Class 10 examinations will be held from May 4.

Recently, Department of School Education had declared ‘preparatory leaves’ for all classes in government and private schools.

Board Controller of Examinations Janak Raj Mahroke said that this decision has been taken because of the Covid situation and keeping the health of the students in mind. More information related to the examination can be found on the website: http://www.pseb.ac.in

Punjab is one of the five states that continues to report a surge in the COVID daily new cases, said the Union health ministry.

On Monday, a meeting of high officials of the board was held on this matter. The exams were to be held from March 22 to April 12. At the same time, class 10 exams were to start from April 9. Around 7 lakh students will sit for these exams.

According to the information received from the PSEB, the class 10 examinations will be held from 10am to 1.15pm and time of class 12 exams will be between 2pm and 5pm. The examination will be conducted in centres established by the board, which will be announced at the time of issue of roll number.
