Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ has become a big hit at the box office since its show date on June 27th pushing it to the top three Indian starters worldwide Directed by Nag Ashwin.
“Kalki 2898 AD” made Rs 95 crore (about $1.1 million USD) as its opening day net collection in India according to the latest industry estimates. This has beaten Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” which had been leading for quite some time and has earned over Rs 115 crore since it was released worldwide evidenced by other countries’ sales too.
The movie’s strong performance is particularly impressive in the Telugu market, where it earned Rs 64.5 crore net. Hindi audiences also showed significant interest, contributing Rs 24 crore net to the opening day collection. Tamil and Malayalam markets followed with Rs 4 crore net and Rs 2.2 crore net, respectively. The overall Telugu occupancy for the film on its first day was a remarkable 85.15%.
“Kalki 2898 AD” is modelled on the backdrop of 2898 AD in a dystopian future and serves as a prophetic unveiling of the post-apocalyptic world. The film features numerous high-profile actors such as Disha Patani. This movie also comprises guest appearances by some South Indian stars like; Mrunal Thakur, Anna Ben, Vijay Deverakonda, Dulquer Salmaan and Brahmanandam.

In spite of divided opinion among critics, some of who commend the effort put into its production while others feel its effects were less than impressive, audience reception towards the movie has been positive.

An exciting start at the box office has created the possibility of success for this movie since its actors such as Prabhas, Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan are popular among their fans across different regions whose response will determine whether it would continue getting people’s attention; though it may be too early to tell if that momentum will be sustained with time, nonetheless so far so good.
