Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) received the best hospital in the country award in an online programme held on Indian Organ Donation Day.
For promoting organ donation, Dr Navdeep Bansal was awarded the Best Transplant Co-ordinator.
Praising the efforts of the hospital, chief guest Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said that the institute is providing life to millions of people and for the fourth time in a row, the hospital is at the top.
He said that it is very important to make people aware about organ donation.
Also, more than 79,000 Central Reserve Police force (CPRF) personnel and their family members pledged to donate their organs. The paramilitary force has joined hands with AIIMS’ Organ Retrieval Banking Organization (ORBO) for a massive organ donation campaign- ‘eSanjeevani’, which started on the National Organs Donation Day in August this year and ended on November 27. Dr Harsh Vardhan lauded the efforts of CRPF and ORBO that had led to such a significant increase in the number of organ donations in a brief period.
