Chandigarh administration has agreed to give Punjab Engineering College (PEC) the status of National Institute of Technology (NIT) or other Central Institute. The UT administration has asked for a new proposal from PEC which will make a report assessing the facilities and budget of IITs and NITs.
The report will be ready in ten days. This project will be presented this month and the proposal will reach the Central Government in January. Punjab Engineering College wants to get the status NITs or a Central Institute as it will help in growing the institute. Moreover, there will be no lack of budget as it will come directly from the central government. The standard of education will also improve.
