PAU to Undergo Major ₹40-Crore Revamp with Focus on Security and Infrastructure

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) in Ludhiana will undergo extensive renovations thanks to a ₹40-crore special grant approved by the state government this year. The ambitious renovation plan comprises a variety of initiatives aimed at improving security, modernising amenities, and beautifying the campus.

Security is an essential priority in the planned designs, with CCTV cameras installed at all critical junctions across campus to create a safer environment for students, faculty, and visitors.

In addition to security upgrades, PAU’s campus is also set to undergo substantial beautification and renovation. The university’s nursery will see the renovation of its screen house and greenhouse, with plans to add new structures as well. A rose garden is to be created along the road leading to gate number two, a project expected to cost around ₹50 lakh, according to estate officer Rishi Gill.

The guest houses at the university are also slated for major renovations. The deluxe block at Parker House, a prominent guest accommodation facility, will be thoroughly revamped. The projected cost of upgrading the eating room and communal spaces is between ₹1 crore and ₹1.5 crore. The VIP guest home, Sutton home, which hosts high-profile visitors such as the chief minister and governors, will also see kitchen, dining, and drawing room additions, as well as the installation of a new exit gate.

The Manmohan Singh Auditorium, another key facility on campus, will receive a new screen wall as part of necessary repairs and upgrades.

This special grant marks the first significant state allocation for PAU since its establishment in 1962. Vice Chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal confirmed that detailed project proposals, including enhancements to libraries, hostels, and other facilities, have been submitted to the government, though he refrained from sharing further specifics.
